Do you have a poetic essay about the Grand Traverse area? Or a burning issue related to community planning that you need to work out in print?
We want to hear from you.
In response to a contest sponsored by Michigan Writers Inc., numerous reflective essays on the people and places of northwest lower Michigan have appeared on YourPlace in the last year.
YourPlace is seeking submissions related to Grand Traverse area history, quality of life and community planning. From opinion pieces to creative nonfiction to poetry, YourPlace is happy to provide a platform for citizen journalists like yourself.
YourPlace also features a variety of articles and interviews about the meaning and importance of place in community development and land use planning. Unique, first-person articles written by public officials and planners from your region discuss decisions made about such topics as form-based zoning, preservation of "viewsheds" and the regulation of drive-through businesses.
Add to the dialogue about our area's future by commenting on what you read!
Submissions may be emailed to
